Step 1: Measure the Gap

Measure the distance from the roof surface to the bottom of the array. Take measurements in multiple locations as the distance may vary.

Set up anchors and ropes to ensure a safe critter guard installation.

Step 2: Bend the Mesh

Bend the mesh to the desired height for a snug fit. The installer can use a  ~12’ bend bar but we prefer the Slicktools AG Bender.

Cut the mesh into easy to manage 10’-12’ lengths.

Bring all the material + CritterBlok to the roof.

Step 3: Pre-Install the CritterBlok Clip

Reach under array and pull clip forward onto the panel frame. Once engaged, while still holding the clip in place, push the main clip forward until flush with the panel.

We recommend pre-installing the CritterBlok around the perimeter of the array where no rail exists to self tap too.

Step 4: Cut Mesh Around Obstacles

Using the diagonal cutters, cut mesh to avoid obstacles to include a notch where the CritterBlok is located. Continue around the perimeter and attach to either rail or CritterBlok as the installer continues.

Step 5: Install Mesh & Attach Wire Splice onto Main Clip

To fasten the mesh to the CritterBlok, press mesh against faceplate with one hand and pass wire form through the mesh and secure into final position.

The installer may need to move the CritterBlok laterally to “line-up” the mesh holes with those of the CritterBlok.

Step 6: Joining Two Pieces of Mesh Together

The wire splice can also be utilized to couple two pieces of mesh together. This eliminates the need for zip-ties or other methods of connecting two pieces of mesh.

*Extra Wire Splices sold separately in packs of 50
